Garland, the warrior
I have done this illustration for a card game, and what I really tried here was to bring a photo pose. I found a picture of a boy with this pose, and he was very young. Decided to do a warrior, I had to make him look older with a strong face.
The hair was something that was difficult, but pleasurable, because I did each one of the strands with a brush stroke.
The sword took me longer. I put at least 4 different textures in both metal and in the handhold, made a mix with light, dark and midtones. The leather in his hand also took a while to be satisfied with it.
The background is something I struggled on, because I couldn't decide on which color to go. In the end, this purple blue tone worked for me.
